Hopkinsville woman charged in attempted assault

A Hopkinsville woman is facing an attempted first-degree assault charge after she allegedly tried to run over a cashier with a vehicle in October.

According to the warrant served by the Hopkinsville Police Department, 23-year old Kayla Knight reportedly became angry at a business on October 26 when she felt the cashier was taking too long to check her out. She reportedly threw her drink at the cashier and when she was escorted from the building, she allegedly got in her vehicle, reversed and then pulled forward in an attempt to strike the employee.

In a separate incident from earlier in October, Knight reportedly threatened bodily harm to someone several times before keying their vehicle and driving through their yard, leaving large muddy ruts.

Knight is charged with attempted first-degree assault, criminal mischief and terroristic threatening.
