Local man, woman arrested on burglary, theft charges

An investigation of a burglary on Walnut Street in Hopkinsville Saturday led to the arrest of two local residents.

Officers were called to Pennyrile Machine for a burglary and followed ATV tracks going away from the business all the way to an address on Hazel Street, where the four-wheeler pulling a trailer was located.

Loaded on the trailer were EGR coolers allegedly stolen from Pennyrile Machine and more coolers were located in the rear of a vehicle belonging to 31-year old Johnathan Addison of Hopkinsville, according to the report.

Addison allegedly admitted to entering the business through a broken window and stealing a welder and approximately 120 EGR coolers with a combined value of about $35,000.

HPD arrested Addison and 20-year old Bailey Powers of Hopkinsville, who reportedly told officers that her grandmother was dating the owner of the business and gave them permission to remove the coolers. The arrest citation says officers spoke to the owners and confirmed that to not be true.

Powers allegedly admitted to going inside with Addison and both were charged with third-degree burglary and felony theft (over $10,000).
