The Christian County School Board selected their chair and vice chair at Thursday’s meeting, and heard an update on teacher recruitment efforts in the district.
The meeting was held virtually due to poor road conditions caused by Thursday snow event, but the board still met and selected current board chair Tom Bell to serve in that position once more, while electing member Lindsey Clark to serve as vice chair.
Beverly Fort heads up the teacher recruitment effort for CCPS and says despite teacher shortages across the nation, she feels her team has acted quickly and efficiently to generate interest about coming to Christian County to teach.
When asked what could help attract would-be educators here, she says a competitive salary and incentives are key.
In other action, the board approved appoint board member Mike Walker to serve on the Code of Acceptable Behavior and Discipline Committee. They also approved an invoice in the amount of $1,708 to American Engineers for work they performed for the High School Consolidation Project.
