Rep. Dossett comments on proposed House redistricting maps

Local state representatives are absorbing the information released with the unveiling of the legislative redistricting maps by the Kentucky House GOP Thursday morning.

Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke represents the ninth district, which includes portions of Christian and Hopkins counties, but if the proposal were to be approved by the General Assembly next week, his district would lose Hopkins and be made of a portion of Christian County. Representative Dossett says he thought the process behind the redistricting effort was a fair one that was taken very seriously.

He says he will miss his constituents in Hopkins County, but he wants them to know he will always work to support them, even if they are no longer in his district.

Several local districts are set to possibly change when the session gavels in, and it’s also likely that the filing deadline to run for a partisan office The Kentucky Senate and Congressional redistricting maps have not yet been revealed.
