January 4 marks the first day to a new session of the Kentucky General Assembly and local legislators are gearing up for a full plate in 2022.
Representative Myron Dossett, who represents parts of Christian and Hopkins counties, says they’ll have to tackle legislative redistricting, using census data, very first thing, but after that they’ll have to buckle down and make a budget. He says he would like to see more information about state employee wages so the legislature can look into giving those employees raises.
He says employee retention has been difficult across the state, and he thinks fair and balanced wages would help with that problem.
Dossett says they’ll also look into allocating even more COVID-19 federal relief funding, but he says those dollars will eventually run out.
Dossett praised community and state response to the tornadoes that caused destruction in his district, reminding people to make sure they file their application with FEMA to receive aid.
