Todd Fiscal Court Magistrate John Camp is retiring at the end of the year and Governor Andy Beshear has appointed Ethan Chester to fill the seat through 2022.
Chester, a farmer and a Democrat, had already filed to run for the District 3 seat that includes the Trenton area and says he was just looking for a way to serve the community.
He says he’s ready to learn from the other magistrates and he’s been assessing the needs of the district in advance of his first meeting in January.
Republican Brent Brookshire has also filed to run for the District 3 seat in next year’s elections.
