Hopkinsville & UHA lose, Christian County wins Wednesday

Play concluded Wednesday in the City of Hopkinsville/Toyota Classic. Bowling Green used a 16-3 run to end the third quarter and down Hopkinsville 70-63. The Tigers were led in scoring by Bubba Leavell’s 14 points with Daisjuan Mercer adding 13. Hopkinsville is now 4-3. Bowling Green improved to 9-0 and was led in scoring by Turner Buttry with 29 points-23 of them in the second half.

Christian County defeated Northwest 67-53 behind a 28 point performance from Derrell Bateman-with 20 of his points coming in the second half. Jordan Miles added 15 as the Colonels improve to 3-5.

University Heights once had a 10 point lead and committed turnovers late and fell to Central 60-58. Gavin Grubbs led the Blazers with 14 points with Cameron Brown adding 10. UHA is now 3-6 on the season.

All of the local teams are now off for Christmas until games resume next week.
