Proceedings continued in College Street murder case

Proceedings were continued once again in the murder case against Kachelle Isbell, as she attempts to gather more information about who will represent her in court.

Isbell—who is accused of fatally shooting Anthony Johnson on College Street in April—appeared before Judge Andrew Self Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court and says she is struggling to get information after her hired attorney unfortunately passed away unexpectedly.  She requested more time to get legal representation.

Special prosecutor Tim Coconaugher wasn’t opposed to a continuance, but did say he’s concerned about delaying proceedings much longer, which Judge Self agreed with.

Setting another pretrial hearing for February 9, Judge Self told Isbell that this will be the final continuance about this matter, and they will move forward at that time one way or another.

As previously reported, Hopkinsville police responded to 1504 College Street a few minutes before 1 a.m. April 3 and found 33-year-old Anthony Johnson of Waddell Circle with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel.

An arrest citation for Isbell says she was at the scene with a .38 caliber pistol when police arrived and she allegedly admitted to shooting Johnson.
