Clarksville fatal shooting victim identified as Fort Campbell soldier

A victim in a fatal shooting in Clarksville has been identified as a Fort Campbell soldier.

According to a news release from the Clarksville Police Department, officers were called to conduct a welfare check at a home in the 400 block of Ringold about 5 p.m. and found a female dead from gunshot wounds and a man injured after being shot. The female victim has been identified as 27-year-old Tabitha Collard, who was a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell.

It is believed by police that the male victim is alleged to be responsible for the homicide and then attempted to take his own life. His identity has not yet been revealed.

Clarksville police believe that there is no suspect at large and there is no threat to the community.
