Pursuit near Marshall County tornado damage ends with arrest of Princeton man

A high speed pursuit that began Monday morning in an area of Marshall County damaged by the December 10 tornado ended with the arrest of a Princeton man on multiple charges.

Marshall County sheriff’s deputies observed a vehicle turn into the parking lot of Faith Missionary Baptist Church at 641 N and Marco Street, which is in an area heavily damaged by the recent storms, according to a news release.

When deputies turned around to check the vehicle, they observed it driving away from the rear of the building without headlights on.

Deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, but Audie Suttle of Princeton allegedly accelerated quickly to speeds in excess of 100 mph south on 641, through Benton, and to Court Square where the vehicle went airborne due to its excessive speeds.

Deputies, assisted at this time by Benton PD, lost sight of the vehicle at that point, finding it unsafe to match speeds with the fleeing suspect. Police later found the vehicle parked on a side street abandoned with two destroyed rims and tires.

Investigation led to the arrest of Suttle on charges of fleeing or evading police, felony theft of a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, speeding, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
