Western Kentucky Congressman James Comer has been pleased with the local, state and federal response to the weekend’s historic tornado outbreak and says he’s intent on being sure the region isn’t forgotten when it’s no longer on the national news.
Comer traveled with President Biden Wednesday in surveying the damage and says the response has gone about as well as it could go so far.
He notes that rebuilding will be a challenge for many in the tornado’s path who were uninsured or underinsured with the rising cost of building materials.
A federal major disaster declaration has been approved for most counties in the path of the quad-state tornado, but Christian, Todd, Logan, Warren and other counties in the path of the more southern tornado have not yet been included—something Comer says he’s working on.
Congressman Comer says he intends to visit the storm damage in Pembroke before the week is through.
