L&R Soda Bar collects over 200 toys for local children

The L&R Soda Bar in Elkton is celebrating a successful toy drive, where they collected over 200 toys for children in the need in the community.

According to a news release, the items were collected throughout November and the toys and gifts were displayed in the storefront window. They were donated to Todd County Schools Family Resource Youth Services Centers. Over 200 toys and gifts for children of all ages were received from the community through the center’s Angel Tree program.

Manager Felix Diaz says, “We enjoyed collecting many toys and other items for those in need in Todd County. We all did this with a loving heart to give in the upcoming holiday season. The partnership with the Family Resources Youth Services Centers and L & R Soda Bar is a blessing all to itself.”

Kelli Templeman, Todd County Youth Services Center Coordinator, says, “We plan to distribute the toys to those students whose parents/guardians have signed them up for the Angel Tree program. If there are extra toys left over after filling the Angel Tree bags, then we will contact local apartment complexes and churches to find out the greatest need and distribute that way.”

The Todd County Family Resource Youth Services Centers have coordinated the Christmas Angel Program for many years to help provide Christmas gifts to local children in need.
