Formal sentencing was held Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court for David King, the Guthrie man who accepted a plea deal last month for his role in the April 10 shooting death of Delmour Moncrief at the East Ninth Street Valero gas station in Hopkinsville.
As previously reported, 27-year old David King of Guthrie pleaded guilty in October to possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive in a deal that came with a recommended sentence of five years in prison and King must testify at the potential trial of his co-defendant, 21-year old Dalton Hall of Springfield, Tennessee.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling opposed probation for King during sentencing, saying it would undermine the seriousness of the crime.
Judge John Atkins agreed and adhered to the plea deal, sentencing King to five years in prison.
King has been in jail since April and will receive credit for all of that time served toward his sentence.
