Austin Peay and Murray State players received final weekly awards for the regular season from the Ohio Valley Conference Sunday.
Austin Peay freshman wide receiver Drae McCray won both the Offensive and Newcomer of the Week awards. McCray totaled seven catches for 237 yards and four touchdowns in Austin Peay’s season ending 48-20 win over Tennessee Tech. The 237 receiving yards were the second most in a game in Governors history.
Meanwhile, Governors defensive back Shamari Simmons had five tackles and two interceptions in the Tennessee Tech game, earning him OVC Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Murray State kicker Aaron Baum earned Specialist of the Week honors. The junior from Orlando, FL had two field goals and two extra points in the Racers 20-13 victory at Eastern Illinois Saturday.
