Colder weather is settling in the region during this first week of November and Western Kentucky will almost certainly see its first freeze of the season by Friday morning.
Lead Forecaster Mike York with the National Weather Service in Paducah said during Monday’s conference call that farmers and gardeners should be prepared for temperatures to get below freezing this week—especially on Friday morning when lows could fall into the upper 20’s to lower 30’s.
While Friday is almost certain to bring freezing temperatures, it’s possible some locations could get a freeze as early as Wednesday morning.
This week should be mostly dry with a slight chance of rain on a couple of occasions.
Next week, York says look for normal fall-like temperatures and below normal precipitation.
While York talked extensively about the first freeze of the season, there was no mention of any flakes of snow falling locally anytime soon.
