The Hopkinsville City Council Committee of the Whole forwarded on a plan to spend $1.5 million on repaving city streets Thursday night and heard from a council member who will not seek re-election next year.
Ward 7 Councilman Terry Parker told the committee he won’t run for his seat or any other office in 2022.
Public Works Director Mike Perry told the committee the $1.5 million would come from pandemic aid money the city has received and while a majority of the complaints the city receives are about state roads inside Hopkinsville, he’s hesitant to use city resources to repave state roads.
Hopkinsville Police Department Assistant Chief Mike Seis talked about recent vehicle burglaries, noting a vast majority have been unlocked and the criminals were just going door to door looking for an opportunity to steal something.
