The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department has charged a Kuttawa man with Wantonly Abusing or Neglecting an Adult after an elderly female he was the sole care taker to passed away Sunday.
According to a news release, deputies and EMS personnel responded to residence on KY 295 north of Kuttawa where they located an elderly female victim who had life-threatening injuries and was very malnourished and dehydrated. She was taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah for
treatment but died from her injuries and condition Sunday morning.
Deputies identified 50-year-old William Hammonds of Kuttawa as her sole care taker, and he was arrested and charged with Wantonly Abusing or Neglecting an Adult—with the victim’s passing, it is possible those charges will be amended. He was lodged under a $50,000 cash bond in in the Crittenden County Jail.
The investigation continues into the incident.
