There were 4,551 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Kentucky Tuesday, along with 56 new deaths.
Governor Andy Beshear has said that an increase in deaths often follows an increase in cases and while case numbers might be in decline now, deaths will likely stay fairly high for a while longer. The overall death toll in the state is at 8,635.
The positivity rate continued to fall, now down to 10.40 percent—there are currently 2,006 individuals in the hospital with COVID-19, which is another decrease from recent numbers, 588 in the ICU and 395 on a ventilator.
On the COVID-19 state incidence rate map, Trigg and Lyon counties are now listed as ‘orange’, while Christian, Todd and surrounding counties remain ‘red’.
