While last week’s special session of the Kentucky General Assembly has concluded, that certainly doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of issues left to address in the coming weeks and months in the commonwealth.
All but two of Kentucky’s 120 counties remain red on the state’s COVID incidence rate map and while he doesn’t support any type of vaccine mandate, state Senator Whitney Westerfield of Christian County is encouraging anyone who can to get vaccinated.
The Republican lawmaker also hopes Kentuckians will choose to wear a mask to protect themselves and others.
There could be another special session before the end of the year for necessary legislative redistricting and Representative Walker Thomas of Hopkinsville hopes they can get that out of the way before the budget session in January.
Representative Myron Dossett of Pembroke says the pandemic has exposed a shortage of medical workers in Kentucky and there needs to be research to determine what can be done.
Outside of a special session, legislators won’t be back in Frankfort again for a session until January 4.
