School board hears update on COVID-19 in CCPS

The Christian County School Board heard an update on COVID-19 in the school district at Thursday’s meeting, which has experienced an increase in cases.

Outgoing Assistant Superintendent Laura Morris gave the report, saying they currently have 199 active COVID-19 student cases, but case numbers among staff remain steady at 23.

She says there does not appear to be any ‘hot spots’ for spread of the virus inside of the schools, as most cases seem to come as the result of outside-of-school events or community events.

Morris says teachers are working very hard to make sure not only their in-person students are receiving the education they need and deserve, but also those students who are out of school either because they tested positive or were a close contact quarantine.  She highlighted some of the efforts staff are taking to help limit the spread in schools.

In other action, the board approved a South Christian Elementary exterior wall panels project to address issues caused blowing rain that was causing water to pool under some walls—also approved was a change order in the amount of $11,859 for the South Christian reroofing project.
