The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is scheduled to begin on construction of a turn lane on KY Route 115 at Pembroke Elementary School on Tuesday. It was one of two such projects announced by Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman during a visit to Christian County in July – the other being construction of left- and right-turn lanes on KY Route 118 at South Christian Elementary School.
Both projects are designed to enhance safety by alleviating traffic backups behind vehicles attempting to turn into the school properties.
The project at Pembroke Elementary will require ditching and shouldering work. Flagging operations will be used and there will be a 45 miles per hour speed limit in the work zone. Work is scheduled for completion October 15 and motorists are advised to use extra caution while traveling in the area.
