Christian County’s COVID death toll now at 114

Christian County’s COVID-19 death toll has risen to 114, following an audit of the state reporting system and recent new deaths.

According to a news release from the Christian County Health Department, six of the deaths were discovered in an audit of the reporting system from 2020, and the department is still gathering information about those victims.  Of the other six deaths, they were a 76-year-old Caucasian male who was vaccinated, along with a 62-year-old Caucasian male, a 68-year-old Caucasian male, a 67-year-old Caucasian male, a 75-year-old Caucasian female and a 69-year-old Caucasian male, all of whom were not vaccinated. All of the victims reportedly had underlying health conditions.

This puts the death toll at 114.  The health department urges those who are not vaccinated yet to soon do so, saying statistics show that those who have been vaccinated are 3.5 times less likely to get the virus, 8 times less likely to get sick, and 25 times less likely to die from COVID-19.
