Two Princeton residents hurt in Eagle Way collision

Two Princeton residents were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center following a motorcycle versus SUV accident on the Eagle Way Bypass Sunday afternoon.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Christine Massie of Hopkinsville was making a left turn onto the on ramp to the Pennyrile Parkway around 6 p.m. Sunday, crossing the westbound lane of Eagle Way. At the same moment, a motorcycle hauling a small trailer was traveling in those lanes and the two collided. The front wheel of the motorcycle reportedly struck the vehicle in the rear passenger side.

The two riders of the motorcycle, 49-year old Joel Benson and 51-year old Helena Benson, both of Princeton, were thrown from the motorcycle about ten to fifteen feet. Joel Benson was flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center while Helena Benson was flown to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana, both with injuries to the head, arms and legs that are thought to be non-life threatening.
