Morris set to retire from CCPS in September

The Christian County Public School System is bidding farewell to Laura Morris as she is set to retire on September 30 following 30 years of service in education.

According to a news release from CCPS Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, Morris began her career in 1991 as an elementary teacher at Highland/Pembroke Elementary, and would go on to serve in multiple roles such as Curriculum Specialist, Principal of Pembroke Elementary, Director of Personnel, and her current position as Assistant Superintendent. She holds multiple certifications and degrees in several subjects.

Morris says she will enjoy spending more time with her family and says, “I am proud to say my entire career has been spent serving the students of Christian County. It has been a privilege working to better our community. I believe a high-quality education is the best gift we can give our students.”

Superintendent Chris Bentzel bragged on Morris’ professionalism and dedicated leadership that benefited thousands of students and educators over her career, saying “We have all benefited from Laura’s calm demeanor and wisdom when faced with challenges and opportunities to improve. As one of the most admired administrators in our district she will be sorely missed.”

Mrs. Jessica Addison, the CCPS Director of Instruction, will serve as Interim Assistant Superintendent until a permanent successor has been appointed.
