Oak Grove Tourism is excited to announce the International and Regional Award-winning Butterfly Festival is coming back Saturday, September 4.
According to a news release, the festival takes place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and it all happens at the War Memorial Walking Trail at 101 Walter Garrett Lane in Oak Grove, KY
The Oak Grove Butterfly Festival was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, which means this year is being marked as the 12th annual TAKE 2 festival and this event is fun, free and educational. This year’s stage show will feature the Dominguez Attractions showcasing “The Globe of Death”, one of many shows they will perform during the festival.
There will be arts and crafts, face painting, zip lining, a balloon artist, photobooth, the bubble zone, and more. All activities are completely free with no cost for admission or parking. There will be food trucks and vendors on site.
Attendees will also get to witness a live release of 1600 butterflies at 4 p.m. on the Viceroy berm. The butterflies will hang around for a little while before beginning their migration to Mexico, says Oak Grove Tourism Director Traci Cunningham.
