Michael Pendleton running for mayor of Hopkinsville in ’22

Retired Hopkinsville Fire Department Captain Michael Pendleton made it official Thursday night—he will run for mayor of Hopkinsville in the 2022 elections.

The Democrat spoke to a crowd of supporters in the upstairs of the Alhambra Theatre, saying while Hopkinsville has areas to work on, the city can also be proud of the progress that’s been made over the last several years and he pointed specifically to downtown.

Pendleton hopes to garner support from people all over the political spectrum who are willing to hear his vision and give him a chance.

He believes he has the professional experience, community involvement and leadership to be a successful mayor.

Pendleton is the third person in the race and the first on the Democratic side. Republicans James Knight, Jr. and Vince Farrell have already announced they will seek the GOP nomination.
