Hopkinsville City Council, Christian Co. School Board likely to not change property tax rates

Hopkinsville City Council will vote on a property tax ordinance when it meets Tuesday night that does not include any rate increases.

Mayor Wendell Lynch says council must vote on an ordinance each year to set the rates, regardless if there are any changes, and the recommendation is to keep the rate on real property at 23.9 cents per $100 of assessed value.

Council is also set to hear final reading of a telecommunications ordinance when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Christian County School Board won’t just be voting on whether to go forward with consolidation when it meets Thursday night at 6—they’ll also set their property tax rates—with a published recommendation of keeping the rate on real property the same at 42.3 cents per $100 of assessed value on the agenda.
