A man sustained critical injuries in a train versus pedestrian accident Sunday morning in Hopkinsville.
It happened just after 5:30 a.m. in the area of the dead end of Poplar Street.
Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Rico Rodriguez says while the investigation is ongoing, alcohol may have been a factor as the man appears to have accidentally wandered onto the tracks and into the path of the southbound train.
EMS transported the patient to the Jennie Stuart helipad and PHI flew him to a Nashville hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The man’s name has not been released.
