Locals have celebrated the end of slavery on August 8 for over a century and there will be a celebration this Sunday at the Pennyroyal Area Museum.
It’s a partnership between the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville and Human Rights Commission and HRC Executive Director Idalia Luna says it will be a time of storytelling between 1 and 3 p.m.
She says most of all, it’s continuing the celebration of the end of slavery in the United States.
Museum Executive Director Alissa Keller says they’re proud to participate in the 8th of August celebration and the museum has three decades of recordings of oral history interviews on the subject.
Everyone is invited to attend and more information can be found on the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County Facebook page events section.
