Several big trades in MLB on Thursday

The New York Yankees are acquiring a big bat, getting first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Chicago Cubs. Rizzo has 14 home runs on the season. He was an integral part of helping the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. In return the Yankees are sending the Cubs minor league pitcher Alexander Vizcaino and outfielder Kevin Alcantara.

The Boston Red Sox are acquiring a new slugger in their lineup by trading for Kyle Schwarber from the Washington Nationals. The 28-year-old Schwarber is slugging 570 and has 25 home runs this season. Schwarber is on the injured list right now but is expected to return soon. 20-year-old right-handed pitcher Aldo Ramirez is heading to Washington as part of the deal.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are finalizing a trade to acquire pitcher Max Scherzer and shortstop Trea Turner. ESPN reports the Dodgers will send the Washington Nationals four prospects in the blockbuster deal. Those include: pitcher Josiah Gray and catcher Keibert Ruiz who are considered the top prospects in LA’s farm system. Scherzer and Turner were named National League All-Stars this season.
