Additional felony indictments are expected to be returned early next month against 21-year-old Jaylynn Cheatham, who is charged in connection with the March 27 shooting of two men outside the gas station at Ninth and Campbell Street in Hopkinsville.
A pre-trial conference had been scheduled for Monday morning for Cheatham, but Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jarod Smith said up to three additional cases against Cheatham could be presented to the Christian County grand jury on August 6.
Judge Andrew Self continued the proceedings until August 9 for possible arraignment on new charges and to assess where the current case stands.
Hopkinsville police responded to the gas station on the evening of March 28 and found 21-year old Darrius Quarles of Hopkinsville with gunshot wounds and 38-year old Bryan Jones of Cadiz later arrived at Jennie Stuart Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Quarles would later be transferred to a Nashville hospital for treatment.
Cheatham is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and attempted murder.
