Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is declining to disclose his vaccine status, citing his privacy. HIPAA requires health care and health care insurance industries to protect patients’ medical records from fraud and theft. The quarterback argued he doesn’t think his vaccine staus is “exactly important.” Prescott’s comments come as the NFL is encouraging teams to get all players and team personnel vaccinated. Around 80-percent of NFL players have received vaccinations so far.
A Minnesota Vikings assistant coach is out of a job after refusing to roll up his sleeves. ESPN reports Rick Dennison is believed to be the first position coach to leave his team after choosing not to get vaccinated against COVID-19. He coached the offensive line and was the run-game coordinator. The league is requiring the vaccine for all Tier 1 staff, which includes coaches, front-office executives, equipment managers and scouts. Players are not required to get the vaccine, but face strict protocols during the season.
