A trial date was set in the case against Kachelle Isbell, the woman charged in the April fatal shooting of Anthony Johnson, Wednesday in Christian Circuit Court.
Isbell, who is currently out of jail on pretrial release, appeared before Circuit Judge Andrew Self alongside public defender Doug Moore, with a request for a trial date. After some discussion, to judge set a trial date of March 7, with the understanding that should any scheduling conflicts arise they can look for a new date.
Moore requested that Isbell’s release conditions be modified enough to allow her to work, as she could soon be employed—Judge Self granted the request, telling Moore to file the appropriate paperwork.
She is still required to wear an ankle monitor at all times and a final pretrial hearing was set for February 23. As previously reported, Hopkinsville police responded to 1504 College Street a few minutes before 1 a.m. April 3 and found 33-year old Anthony Johnson of Waddell Circle with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel.
An arrest citation for Isbell says she was at the scene with a .38 caliber pistol when police arrived and she allegedly admitted to shooting Johnson.
