Medical episode may have caused East Ninth St. injury crash

A medical episode may have been a factor in a rear-end collision Friday afternoon on East Ninth Street in Hopkinsville that injured one of the drivers.

It happened just after noon in the 1700 block of East Ninth and both vehicles had been traveling westbound. The rear driver, 31-year old Elizabeth Greenwell of Hopkinsville, told Hopkinsville police she became dizzy and possibly passed out at the wheel—as she did not remember colliding with the rear of the slowing pickup ahead of her that was driven by 24-year old Jacob Gibson of Gracey.

Police say Greenwell was disoriented and had a knot on her forehead and was transported by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Gibson was not hurt in the crash.
