A former champion is one of three golfers who withdrew today from The Open Championship that tees off Thursday at Royal St. George’s. 2015 champion Zach Johnson tested positive for Covid according to the Royal and Ancient Golf Club and will be replaced by Englishman Sam Horsfield.
Many PGA Tour golfers who are not at the Open Championship this week at Royal St. George’s will be playing in the Barbasol Championship that also begins Thursday at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville. The event was postponed due to the Covid pandemic last year.
