Mike Harmon announces 2023 for governor

Kentucky Auditor Mike Harmon has announced he’ll run for the Republican nomination for governor in 2023.

In an email Monday morning Harmon, who is a former state representative, says he’s filed paperwork to enter the 2023 race.

He takes aim at Governor Andy Beshear’s handling of the pandemic claiming, “Over the last year and a half, sadly Kentuckians have had their liberties and their livelihoods suspended and stolen while promises to make those losses whole have gone for the most part unfulfilled.”

Harmon says he looks forward to traveling Kentucky and meeting voters in the coming months.

Other potential Republican challengers could include Ag. Commissioner Ryan Quarles and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft, though neither has made any type of formal announcement.
