Former Vandy QB Heflin dies Friday

Van Heflin-the first black quarterback to consistently start at Vanderbilt-died Friday at age 62 of a heart attack. Heflin was named the Commodores starter by head coach Fred Pancoast in 1978. He completed 140 of 279 passes for 1,732 yards and seven touchdowns in his two seasons as a starter.
