The St. Louis Cardinals’ All-Star break started earlier than expected after yesterday’s game with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as the second game of a split doubleheader on Friday, September 24th.
The Redbirds head into the break with a 44-and-46 record, tied with the Cubs for third in the NL Central and eight games behind front runner Milwaukee.

Dansby Swanson homered twice as the Atlanta Braves fell to the Miami Marlins 7-4 in Miami. The shortstop hit solo bombs in the sixth and ninth innings, his first multi-home run game of the year. It was Atlanta’s first game without Ronald Acuna Jr., after the outfielder suffered a torn ACL in his right knee. The Braves won three of their last four to close out the first half of the season.

The MLB All Star Game takes place at Denver’s Coors Field tomorrow night, with the Home Run Derby event among several activities taking place today and tonight.
