Lt. Gov. presents $1.1 million in funding for road projects at Pembroke, South Christian Elementary schools

The roads leading to Pembroke Elementary and South Christian Elementary Schools will soon become safer, thanks to a grant from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The $1.1 million in funding was presented by Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman at a ceremony at Pembroke Elementary Thursday afternoon, saying funding like this is of vital importance to make sure the state’s greatest resource, its children, are getting to and from school safely.

It will go towards the creation of left hand turn lanes on Kentucky 115 at Pembroke and for turn lanes on Kentucky 117 at South Christian.

State Representative Myron Dossett lives in Pembroke and says this road work is much needed, to help not only keep people safe but also to streamline traffic in the mornings.

Representatives from both elementary schools, the school system, local government officials and community members were on hand for the presentation.  Minor right-of-way acquisition and utility relocation might be required at both sites.
