A Christian County Grand Jury has returned an indictment for murder against one of the suspects involved in a fatal shooting of Delmour Moncrief at the Valero gas station on East Ninth Street.
Indicted for murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon is 21-year old Dalton Hall of Springfield, Tennessee. He is alleged, along with 26-year old David Rashawn King in April, of shooting Moncrief multiple times before fleeing the scene. He was arrested a month later in Alabama and extradited back to Christian County. Police continue to seek information concerning King.
The grand jury indicted 21-year old Jaylynn Cheatham of Hopkinsville with two counts of first-degree assault, four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and attempted murder. He is accused of shooting 20-year old Darrius Quarles of Hopkinsville and 38-year old Bryan Jones of Cadiz. He’s also facing charges related to theft of a vehicle that occurred during the same incident. As previously reported, officers responded to shots fired at the gas station at the intersection of Ninth and Campbell a few minutes before 9:30 p.m. and found Quarles with gunshot wounds and flown to Skyline Medical Center—Jones arrived by private vehicle at a local hospital later, where he was treated and released.
Windows of the gas station were shot out and 21 bullet fragments were recovered by investigators.
Indicted for first-degree arson is 50-year old Charles Smalls of Oak Grove, who is alleged to have intentionally started a fire using lighter fluid in a home on Zackary Street in April following an argument with his wife. He allegedly left the residence safely, leaving his wife behind inside, and she would sustain life-threatening injuries.
