The Kiwanis Soap Box Derby is back in full swing on Saturday and kids will race for acclaim at a new location.
The races will begin at 8 a.m. at Ruff Park on North Drive, a break from Bethel Street tradition, but approximately 50 kids will take part in multiple head-to-heads throughout the day. Amy Rains encouraged people to attend and cheer on all the racers, including the Super Kids, who will finish their races that morning.
She says the winners of the derby will go onto race in the National Championship in Akron, Ohio later in the year.
There will be food vendors on site and all money raised from the races goes back to help local children in various ways through the Kiwanis Club. Races are expected to wrap up around 3 p.m.
