Kachelle Isbell, the woman charged in the April fatal shooting of Anthony Johnson, will be allowed to be released from the Christian County Jail for pre-trial release following a bond hearing Monday morning.
Isbell appeared virtually before Circuit Judge Andrew Self, who heard from Isbell’s mother about where she would be living and what type of supervision she would have if released. Assistant Attorney General Tim Cocanaugher, who is now serving as the special prosecutor in this case, argued against any reduction in bond, saying Isbell’s statements of self-defense don’t match with eye witness testimony.
Judge Self says he understands that, but based on her being a low flight risk and a low risk of re-offending, she is eligible for pre-trial release, which he granted.
He put down several conditions of release, including that she must wear an ankle monitor and she will be placed on home incarceration.
Isbell cannot leave that residence for any reason other than an emergency situation. She can also have no contact with anyone involved in the case, including through social media or phone services.
As previously reported, Hopkinsville police responded to 1504 College Street a few minutes before 1 a.m. April 3 and found 33-year old Anthony Johnson of Waddell Circle with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel.
An arrest citation for Isbell says she was at the scene with a .38 caliber pistol when police arrived and she allegedly admitted to shooting Johnson.
