Three injured in I-24 crash

Heavy rain was a factor in an accident early Sunday morning on I-24 in Christian County that injured three people.

A collision report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office says Mariah Moore of Hopkinsville was westbound near the 83 mile-marker when she hydroplaned and collided with the cable barrier in the median.

Heavy rain was falling and James O’Neal of Springfield Missouri didn’t see Moore’s vehicle in front of him, causing his van to strike the driver’s side of her car.

Moore’s car spun and came to rest in the left lane.

Moore’s passenger, Maurizio Forte of Hopkinsville and two passengers of O’Neal—Stacey Higgins and Aiden O’Neal of Springfield—were all taken by EMS to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
