Hopkinsville man facing second-degree burglary charge

Hopkinsville police charged a Hopkinsville man with second-degree burglary following an incident at the Travel Inn on East Ninth Street Thursday.

According to the police report, officers were called to the Travel Inn where the owner informed them that 30-year old David Brown Sr. of Hopkinsville had neither checked out of the room he was renting or paid for another night. He had reportedly been told to leave but refused and would not give the room key back. He had allegedly returned later in the day on Thursday and used the key to get back into the room illegally.

Contact was made with Brown, who reportedly told police that he was the owner of the business—he told police he was aware of keeping the room key, because he owned it. The report states Brown entered the room and remained unlawfully with the intent to commit theft of services.

Brown was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, which is a felony.
