Hopkinsville wins 8th District baseball championship

Hopkinsville claimed the championship with a 10-4 win over Christian County in the final Monday night. The Tigers had a 4-0 lead before the Colonels tied the game up in the top of the 5th thanks to a three run home run from Elijah Underhill. Hopkinsville came back and scored six times in the bottom of the 6th to get the win. Zach Moss led the Tigers at the plate going 3-4 while Elijah Underhill was 2-4 for the Colonels.

Logan Durst in relief got the pitching win for Hopkinsville while Broden Kellum in relief took the loss for Christian County. The Tigers head to the 2nd region tournament 21-9 while the Colonels are 8-19.

In the semifinal round, Hopkinsville routed Fort Campbell 15-0 in four innings with Zach Moss getting a no hitter. Christian County edged University Heights 2-1 with a double by Josh Snorton in the bottom of the sixth the game winner. Elijah Underhill struck out 15 in getting the pitching win for the Colonels.

Members of the All-District team were as follows: Preston Chadouin, Jacob Dilday, Logan Durst, Ryan Myers and Zach Moss of Hopkinsville, Elijah Underhill and Isaiah Forrest of Christian County, Seth Hancock, Ty Hunt and Eston Glover of University Heights.
