Although school is out for the summer, the Christian County Public School System is continuing to provide services for students during the break.
Two COVID-19 vaccine clinics were held Monday, with Superintendent Chris Bentzel saying around 100 vaccines were administered at each clinic, paving the way for a successful, healthy upcoming school year in August.
The Summer Learning Institute is set to begin on June 7 and Bentzel says it will focus on catching up students who fell behind during the pandemic closures and restrictions, strengthening skill sets and giving students a head start for next year.
He says they’ll have enrichment for all students so they can ready for learning in the classroom, and teachers will be able to do project and activities they may not normally get to do in a traditional setting.
The state is no longer requiring schools to report COVID-19 cases, so Bentzel says they will probably not update that as often as they were until closer to the start of the school year—as for if they will continue it next year, that remains to be determined.
