KYTC to begin road work on New Hope Road box culvert this week

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers have evaluated a damaged box culvert that forced a section of New Hope Road in Trigg County to close on May 13.

According to a news release, New Hope Road remains closed at the 8.2 mile point between Freeman Road and Meadow Cemetery Road about 1 mile south of the KY 139 Intersection.  Starting this week, KYTC crews will remove decking and beams from the top of the box culvert and then next week, crews will start the process of installing new beams and decking.

Once the top of the culvert is replaced, the approaches will be paved to match to the elevation of the new deck.

Engineers are optimistic the repairs can be completed in 3 to 4 weeks, weather permitting, and the roadway will remain closed until all work is completed.
