Cadiz man arrested after Trigg deputy stops burglary in progress

A Cadiz man was arrested early Sunday morning for burglary and other charges after a Trigg deputy stopped a burglary in progress.

Deputy Gary Hicks was dispatched to a possible burglary in progress and an arrest citation says 29-year old Alonzo Lewis was observed crawling through the window of a house.

Lewis allegedly ignored commands to stop and a K9 was utilized to bring him into custody after Lewis allegedly hid.

A search of the area where Lewis was located reportedly revealed a cigarette box containing synthetic drugs, and a bag of methamphetamine.

Lewis was evaluated at the emergency room and then arrested for second-degree burglary, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, public intoxication, possession of synthetic drugs and possession of meth.

He was also sought on a warrant for burglary and menacing, with the previous incident at the same address, according to the report.
