CCPS preparing for graduations, assisting quarantined students

The end of a school year troubled by the COVID-19 pandemic is fast approaching and the Christian County Public School system is gearing up for graduations.

Those events will be held in-person this year on May 21st—CCHS will take place at 5:30 p.m. and HHS at 8 p.m.—after being strictly virtual last year, with Assistant Superintendent Laura Morris saying they will be asking for people to abide by those well-known health guidelines—it will be live streamed as always for those who want to watch that way.

While active COVID-19 cases are starting to decrease in the school system, there are a lot of students who are currently quarantined, and Morris says if a student is in quarantine come graduation, they will make sure those students are still honored.

Families have the option of letting their students re-take the school year, and Morris says the number of how many will do so is up in the air and is regularly changing.

As seen on the CCPS COVID-19 Data Dashboard, there are currently three active COVID staff cases, ten cases among in-person students and zero in the Virtual Learning Academy—there are 162 students who are being close contact quarantined.
