Former Kentucky women’s head coach Matthew Mitchell took out a full page ad in the Lexington Herald Leader Sunday to thank Kentucky fans and wish the program well after his resignation last November. In an accompanying story in the Herald Leader, Mitchell said it was not his health that caused him to leave the job. You might recall Mitchell had brain surgery last summer after a fall on a hiking trip. He said in the story that he was cleared to return to work, but said he stepped away because of his family and that priorities had changed. He adds he won’t rule out a return to coaching someday, but it’s not in his plan right now.
